Flamenco may be familiar to many, but have you ever heard of "Popevka"? Let us tell you more about it!

Popevka is a traditional folk song and singing form from the northwestern part of Croatia (Međimurje) and was even added to the UNESCO List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2018. With its unique melody based on old modes (church modes), Popevka is a special type of folk music. The first written records of Popevka date back to the 16th century.

Polish folk songs, known as "Pieśni Ludowe," play an important role in Polish folk music. They are often sung in groups or choirs and have a lot of regional variation. Polish folk music is a rich and diverse tradition that has deep roots in Polish culture and includes various styles and forms.

Experience with us the lyrical and elegiac melodies and texts of Croatian and Polish folk songs that will transport you to the world of our ancestors.

The program also includes old folk songs collected by Federico Garcia Lorca and arranged for voice and guitar by Rafael Catalá. Some are full of Andalusian folklore, while others have deep political meaning. In addition to the folk songs, songs by Joaquín Rodrigo, Manuel de Falla, and Francisco Tárrega will be presented. From Bulería and Tango to Flamenco, these songs offer a musical journey through the sound richness of Spain.

The duo "Historias del Este" is finally back after a hiatus and is excited to enchant you with beautiful folk and art songs from Spain, Croatia, and Poland.
